Andy Hogg
With a 32-year career dedicated to championing children with additional learning needs, Andy brings a wealth of deep, global expertise to his role as the SEND Specialist for Shaping Lives. His extensive background spans leadership positions in both mainstream and highly specialist educational settings across the UK, Ireland, Asia, and Africa.
Throughout his career, Andy has developed a profound specialisation in managing challenging behaviour and designing impactful provisions for students with complex needs, as well as supporting those with English as an Additional Language (EAL). His passion for true inclusion eventually led him into specialised educational consultancy, where he has worked with schools about how to identify and systematically dismantle barriers to learning early.
As the SEND Specialist for Shaping Lives, Andy is driving the future of SEND implementation and reform. He is responsible for writing and designing our Level 5 Specialist Teaching Assistant apprenticeship standard, ensuring it is packed with research-informed, practical strategies that are relevant and impactful for schools. Deeply committed to community impact, he also leads our outreach work, partnering directly with nurseries, schools, and settings to deliver high-quality CPD, share specialist expertise, with a focus on ensuring that every child can thrive.
