In Maths: connecting research with practice, experts from The Centre for Early Mathematics Learning will explain how young children develop early maths skills. They will also suggest playful maths activities that you can incorporate into your nursery setting.
You will come away from the session with actionable tips and effective ways to provide opportunities for mathematical play.
Who will you hear from?
Camilla Gilmore is a Professor at Loughborough University and Lead of The Centre for Early Mathematics Learning. She is a chartered psychologist with more than 20 years’ experience investigating children’s development and learning. Her research focuses on understanding how early mathematics skills develop and how playful activities can be used to support this.
Iro Xenidou-Dervou is a Senior Lecturer at Loughborough University and a member of The Centre for Early Mathematics Learning. She is a cognitive developmental psychologist, and her research focuses on the factors that influence children’s mathematical learning and achievement, as well as the development of children’s thinking skills in mathematics.
Fiona Leedham is Partnership Development Manager at The Centre for Early Mathematics Learning. She is a qualified teacher with many years’ experience working in the primary and early years sector.
